Privacy Policy

Paseon (“we”, “us”) operates paseon.com and the Paseon app, opening city by city — Austin first. This policy covers both: the site you are reading now, and the app once it is live in your city. Anything privacy-related reaches a human at hello@paseon.com.

Before launch, the only thing Paseon asks of you is the waitlist:

• Email address — to hold your spot. We use double opt-in: until you tap the confirmation link we send, you are not on the list.
• City and invite code — both optional. City tells us where to open next; the code links you to whoever invited you.
• Basic request data — such as IP address, used only to rate-limit the signup endpoint and block abuse.

Once the app launches, an account adds:

• Profile basics — your name, birth date (to enforce 18+), and photos.
• Your diary — the entries you write for the matchmaker.
• Presence — whether you are live right now, and a coarse location while you are.
• Device and usage data — what is needed to run, secure, and debug the service.

Before anyone can go live, a quick face check confirms they are a real, present human. The verification template is compared, then discarded — never stored, never added to any database, never matched against anything beyond that one check.

There is no gallery of faces anywhere in Paseon, and verification data is never used for advertising, profiling, or training.

Nobody ever sees your exact position — not before a match, not after. Other members only see a fuzzed distance, and only while you are live.

Precise coordinates are used transiently to compute that coarse distance and are not kept as a movement history.

Your diary is not a public profile. It is read by Paseon — the matchmaker — to understand who you are and to pick the one person it sends your way.

Diaries are never shown to other members, never published, never sold, and never used for advertising.

We use the information above for exactly what you would expect: confirming waitlist spots, opening cities, making introductions, enforcing 18+ and verification, keeping the community safe, and fixing what breaks.

We do not sell personal data. It is shared only with:

• Service providers — the companies that host the site and deliver our email, bound to use your data only on our instructions.
• Authorities — when the law genuinely requires it.
• A successor — if Paseon is ever acquired or merged, under this same policy.

• Waitlist entries live until Paseon launches in your city — or until you ask to be removed, which takes one email.
• Verification templates are discarded the moment the check completes.
• Account data lives as long as your account does. Deleting your account removes your profile, diary, and match history from production systems, with backups expiring on a fixed schedule.

We treat these as defaults, not favors: you can ask what we hold about you, correct it, export it, or delete it — wherever you live. Depending on your region (the EEA and UK under the GDPR, California under the CCPA/CPRA, and others), these are also your legal rights.

Paseon is 18+ everywhere, enforced by age verification at sign-up — before anyone can ever go live. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we delete it.

Waitlist signups go through a rate-limited server API — no database credential of any kind ships to your browser. Data travels over encrypted connections, and access to production systems is restricted.

No system is perfectly secure. If an incident ever affects your data, telling you quickly and plainly is part of the promise.

When this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page — and, once the app is live, in the app — with the date above updated. Continued use after a change means the new version applies.
